On-Site. On-site soil remediation is achieved using OS STEP 1 / STEP 2 additives. Shallow surface soil or aggregate contamination is microencapsulated using OS STEP 1 / STEP 2 additives and a surface tilling device such as a rake. The resultant silica (sand) matrix effectively locks the hazardous components in to a stable, environmentally friendly, sand-like residue that may be left in place without the need for expensive oil spill remediation activities.
Off-Site. Remediation on excavated contaminated soil or aggregate is achieved by using an appropriate mixing device with liquid additive spray application capabilities. High-speed mixing equipment such as a pug mill provides turbulent mixing to effectively contact the contaminant with the additives. Spraying 1-5 percent by weight of soil with each OS STEP 1 / STEP 2 3000/4000 additives typically satisfies regulatory requirements.
Our OS Powder polymer is ideal for environmentally friendly cleanup of pooled crude and other hydrocarbons used in oil field operations, such as diesel, lubrication oils, gasoline, etc. This super absorbent polymer is a white powdery substance that you sift over a spill, give it time to microencapsulate, then pick or net it up. OS Powder is safe for operators and environmentally friendly. It is especially effective for cleanup of spills around well heads, containment ponds, or for leakage control into nearby water sources.
